The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe invites you to live our upcoming spiritual pilgrimage with our Rector, the Very Rev. Esequiel Sanchez. This year we are organizing a beautiful pilgrimage where we shall walk in the footsteps of St. Paul in Greece. During his life and ministry, St Paul wrote seven letters to various communities we will visit. These letters compose a large part of what is now the New Testament and are often read during the celebration of the Eucharist, particularly on Sunday. We shall study the letters of St. Paul to the Galatians, Romans, Corinthians, Philemon, Philippians, and Thessalonians.
We will visit several tourist and historical places of the ancient Greek and Roman times that are significant to the development of modern civilizations and where the early missionary efforts of Christianity first took root. We shall spend a day on a cruise visiting various islands where the Apostles St. Paul and St. John worked arduously to evangelize the people they came in contact with. We shall visit the earliest monasteries established over 1500 years ago and were constructed during the first centuries of the Church, where unity and martyrdom played a key role in their development.
Fr. Sanchez will offer special Bible Study workshops for all those registered for this trip. We will be studying the history of salvation and spiritually transported to the times of the Apostles in order to understand the realities they had to confront to fulfill the mission Christ gave them. Our pilgrimage is not merely a recreational vacation trip or a curiosity but a genuine encounter with Christ through the lives of the Saints. By looking at their lives and seeing where the beginnings of our faith were planted, we may hear the voice of Christ calling us to be true disciples for the XXI Century.
