Bishop Rojas was named on December 2 by Pope Francis as the Coadjutor Bishop of San Bernardino, and he will be formally welcomed on February 24. Bishop Rojas was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and emigrated to the United States in 1993 to complete his seminary formation at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois. He was ordained a priest in 1997and worked in parish ministry and at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary. Bishop Rojas was ordained an auxiliary bishop for Chicago in 2011. He served as Episcopal Vicar of Vicariate III from 2011 to 2018, and as Episcopal Vicar of Vicariate I from 2018 to 2019.
Bishop Rojas expresses his gratitude for the opportunities and friendships he has experienced while in the Archdiocese of Chicago, and promises to remember his friends and benefactors in his prayers and Masses.
