Welcome to the Tilma, the Religious Goods Store of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The word “Tilma” references the shroud worn by St. Juan Diego, where he laid the miraculous roses upon being instructed by the Blessed Mother, he gathered on Tepeyac Hill in 1531. After presenting them to Bishop Juan Zumarraga (Bishop of Mexico), the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously etched upon Juan Diego’s Tilma.
Our team is ready to serve you and assist in your search for a special religious give that will strengthen your and your family’s faith and bring you closer to Our Lady and Our Lord. We are prepared to answer any questions you may have regarding the variety of religious articles and their meaning. The inventory of religious articles comes from a variety of artisans from around Mexico, Latin America, and other places where Catholic items are made professionally. If you are looking for a particular piece that we currently do not have, we will work with you to find it.
The Tilma serves two purposes in favor of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Firstly, and above all, the Tilma is understood as a ministry for the pilgrims who come and visit the Shrine. Our inventory helps visitors find Catholic materials that are inspirational, catechetical, and biblical in order to help fortify one’s faith. Our inventory serves to support artists from Mexico and other countries and is made with a distinctive Catholic message. Our prices are determined in a manner that is responsible and accessible to our patrons.
The Tilma also serves to provide much-needed financial support to the ministries and development of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Tilma is a “Non-for-Profit” business, meaning that all of the income generated by this ministry returns directly to the community via the development of the Shrine and its services to pilgrims.
