The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe is visited by over a million pilgrims each year. These brothers and sisters come in search of welcome, of inspiration, healing and a way to serve God. However, the Shrine does not live independently from our Archdiocese of Chicago but rather is a ministry of the Church. Each year our Archbishop, Cardinal Blase Cupich, makes a special petition to all catholic in the Church of Chicago. He asks all of us to be generous to the Annual Archdiocesan Catholic Appeal that is meant to help ministries and services that help make Christ present Christ in the world.
The Annual Catholic Appeal is the Cardinal’s personal invitation that offers a wonderful opportunity to respond to Jesus’s call when he says: “Come and follow me…heal our world.”
All of the parishes and shrines are responding to the call. The Cardinal is inviting the community of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe to support him with a goal of $50,000.00 this calendar year. All donations that surpass this goal will be returned to the Shrine in support of our local ministries. It sounds like a lot of money, but if each family would make a gift of $25.00 or more, we will reach our goals and God will multiply your blessings. It is not necessary to pay all at once, but it is important to commit and fulfill one’s commitment.
I invite you, brothers and sisters, to be generous with this call. Cardinal Cupich is our bishop and pastor and through him, God calls us to action. I intend to help! Join me and respond with faith!
On February 15th, we will be distributing our pledge commitments during all of the Masses. These pledge envelopes will also be made available in our parish office and gift shop. For more information concerning the campaign, please contact us at 847-294-1806
